Welcome to the Team England Lure Squad blog for the forthcoming World Predator Lure Angling Championship's.  For the first time in its 6 years of the event's running, Team England are throwing our hat into the ring to take on the best lure anglers in the world in this ultra exciting area of sport fishing.
The beautiful town of Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland has been chosen by the organising body of FIPSed to host this years event on the breathtaking Lough Erne over the weekend of the 12th/13th of October.
Lough Erne
This annual event is based around a squad of 4 anglers split into pairs and fishing from boats for all predatory species (in this case pike & perch)  with cast and not trolled lures only. With a further two reserves/bank runners who can be used on any of the two days of competition, the completed squad line-up will also include the assistant Team Manager and myself (Mike Skipper) as the overall Squad Manager.
This has surely got to be one of the most exciting challenges ahead for any lure angler to take on, and with a shore-based championship's being held each May; (Bulgaria 2014) makes these world championship's a dream prospect for every lure angler in England to strive for a place in the team and to wear the much lauded 'Three Lions' with pride.
This years squad is being hand-picked from a short-list of anglers registering to express their interest in taking part following the first and latest press announcements of our participation in this event. Future squads will be selected from a series of trials held later this year/early 2014 to determine the squads for the trip to Estonia in October 2014 as well as exploring the opportunity of including a squad into May's shore based championship's.
Run under the aegis of the Angling Trust, all persons wishing to represent England must be a member or should join immediately, and must also adhere strictly to the rules imposed by the governing body of FIPSed. These rules also include the use of banned substances used in or out of competition. (World Anti-Doping Code). The same policy used by the world's top athletes in European, World & Olympic events.
So if you see yourself as the next Bob Nudd, Alan Scotthore, Will Raison or Sean Ashby of the lure fishing world and attaining Full International honours in representing your nation; then this challenge is for you.
